Viewing the Emergent City and Its People

I am sure we have all been surprised by the effectiveness of Google Street View – I have used it to survey sites for projects saving time doing street front research at night when the “real” site was inaccessible and using it to locate where relatives live in London – the downside is that all the technology removes us from the sensory reality of the place – the place is more than just its “visceral image’ and without spending time and getting the feel of the place and its people we are falling into the trap of thinking we know a place from its image. Here is a different view of how we can see the impresions left by people o ntheir environment.
